Otsego Lake is located in Otsego County, New York. Anglers can catch Alewife, Cisco, Lake Whitefish, Rainbow Trout, Atlantic Salmon, Brown Trout, Brook Trout, Lake Trout, Rainbow Smelt, Chain Pickerel, Common Carp, Cutlip Minnow, Golden Shiner, Comely Shiner, Satinfin Shiner, Emerald Shiner, Bridle Shiner, Common Shiner, Blackchin Shiner, Spottail Shiner, Spotfin Shiner, Bluntnose Minnow, Fathead Minnow, Eastern Blacknose Dace, Rudd, Creek Chub, White Sucker, Creek Chubsucker, Northern Hog Sucker, Yellow Bullhead, Brown Bullhead, Margined Madtom, Banded Killifish, Rock Bass, Redbreast Sunfish, Pumpkinseed, Bluegill, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Black Crappie, Tessellated Darter, Yellow Perch, Walleye, Mottled Sculpin, and Slimy Sculpin.
Lake trout are the most sought after species. Walleye and perch are also popular. The lake supports an underfished exceptional smallmouth bass fishery. The lake is stocked annually with approximately 5,000 brown trout 8-10" in length. Approximately 5,000 lake trout 8-9" in length and 5,000 landlocked Atlantic salmon 5-6" in length are stocked biennially.
