Description
The Upper Klamath Lake is almost 30 miles long and up to eight miles wide and depths of up to 60 feet in some places, Upper Klamath Lake in Oregon is the largest freshwater body west of the Rocky Mountains. The Upper Klamath is easily one of the most beautiful and popular of all Oregon lakes. Anglers won't want to miss the amazing Oregon fishing at Pelican Bay, which is home to some of the largest trout on the continent. This is a fly-fisherman’s paradise. Boaters won’t be left out in the cold either. Canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts can follow trails that roam throughout the marshes and waterways of Pelican Bay, or take fascinating charter tours that cover the history, ecology and geography of the lake. Oregon wildlife observation opportunities are outstanding here. Visitors may get a chance to see waterfowl, otter, mink, deer and bald eagles. Among the more interesting flora is a strain of highly nutritious bluish green algae that is harvested by local companies and processed for sale as a food supplement.
