The Call: Fish the western inflow arm and adjacent coves from 11:50 AM to 2:20 PM with a high-vibration spinnerbait or chatterbait in chartreuse/white, then slide to the main-lake deep break if the surface bite stalls.
Why It Wins
- Cooler water in the west: Thermal imagery shows the western basin/coves running 83°F – the coolest surface water on the lake. With current lake temp at 76°F (historically cooling -2.8°F), this is the most comfortable zone for active fish.
- Stained, nutrient-rich inflow: The March clarity map (old but pattern-valid) shows high sediment and biological activity in the western arm. Baitfish stack here, and the dirty water lets fish feed aggressively without spooking.
- Wind + solunar alignment: 18 mph wind from the south blows into the western shore, pushing bait and oxygen into those coves. Today’s major solunar window (11:50 AM – 2:20 PM) overlaps with the wind, creating a prime feeding minute.
- Stable pressure: 1013 mb – no front to shut down the bite. Fish will stay on structure and feed predictably.

Western Arm/Inflow Section – Head to the far left end of the reservoir where the shoreline becomes irregular and the water turns light tan/green. Look for the narrow, shallow coves in the northwest corner. The dam is at the east end; you want the opposite extreme. The channel bends from the inflow into the main basin create a natural feeding corridor.
Throw This
Primary: 1/2-oz spinnerbait (double willow, chartreuse/white) or 1/2-oz chatterbait (white/chartreuse trailer). Burn it fast along wind-blown banks and slow-roll it through the stained coves. The vibration and flash cut the low visibility.
Backup: 6th Sense Crush 300 or similar deep-diving crankbait in shad/plum – work the main-lake drop-off where the water color shifts from medium blue to dark blue (center-east). This is the deep break where fish retreat when the sun gets high.
Best Window
11:50 AM – 2:20 PM today. The major solunar period hits just as the wind peaks and the surface heating is still manageable. Be on the western arm by 11:30 AM to set up. The first 45 minutes of the window should be the most productive.
Next Move
If the western arm produces only follows or short strikes after 45 minutes, slide to the central transition zone – the edge where the 83°F western water meets the 85°F central water. These thermal breaks are active corridors. Slow down with a 1/4-oz football jig (green pumpkin/black) or a Texas-rigged 10-inch worm (plum) and drag it along the bottom.
