THE CALL
Pre-spawn bass on first breaks near spawning flats. Best area: the creek arm on the east side. Primary bait: 1/2-oz chatterbait, white/chartreuse. Prime time: 3:45–6:15 PM.

WHY IT WINS

  • Water is 57°F – ideal staging range. The recent 14° drop pushes fish to the first break off shallow flats, not deep yet.
  • Rising pressure (1015 mb) and 11-mph SSW wind shorten the strike window but add aggression – a reaction bait gets eaten when fish commit.
  • Solunar major 3:44–6:14 PM aligns with the wind settling and the bite window.

START HERE
East-side creek mouth – the point where the creek channel meets the main lake basin. Fish the wind-blown bank (southwest side) where wind pushes in. Look for the inside turn with scattered rock and a slight depth change from 5 to 10 ft.

THROW THIS

  • Primary: 1/2-oz chatterbait, white/chartreuse, steady retrieve ticking the bottom.
  • Backup: 3/8-oz black/blue jig with a rage craw trailer if the chatterbait gets followers but no commits.
  • Second backup: 5" jerkbait (natural shad) on long pauses for clear-water fish that won’t chase.

BEST WINDOW
3:45–6:15 PM. The wind will be manageable, the major solunar is on, and the cooling water has fish feeding in short bursts. Be there by 3:30.

NEXT MOVE
If the creek mouth is dead after 45 minutes, slide to the steep northern bank near the dam – vertical rock, deeper contact, slow down with the jig or a Ned rig. If the wind lays down completely, switch to a dropshot on the main-lake points.

BIGGEST UNCERTAINTY
How much the cooling trend has stalled the spawn. If fish aren't on the first break, they might be tight to shallow wood or docks in protected coves – check that only if the primary plan fails.

MULTI-DAY PLANNING

  • Today: East creek mouth, 3:45–6:15 PM.
  • Tomorrow: Same window (major 4:46–7:16 PM). If today’s bite works, repeat. If not, move to the north dam bank with slower presentations.
  • Backup lake (if Case Lake locks up): Deep Creek Lake (60°F, 321 mi) – warmer, more active fish, but only if you’re willing to travel that far. Closer option: Seneca Lake (51°F, 134 mi) – deeper, smallmouth focus, but colder and slower. Not recommended unless Case fails completely.
