Lake Milton Fishing Report
Slow down, downsize to a Ned rig or dropshot on secondary points.
- PLANNER – LAKE MILTON: SUNDAY MAY 31
Likely Targets: Largemouth bass (primary), white/black crappie, bluegill. Smallmouth possible on main-lake rock.
Timing: Best window 2:21 PM – 4:51 PM (major solunar, full moon). Secondary early bite 5:04–6:34 AM if you launch at first light.
Presentation Style: Start moving – chatterbait, spinnerbait, squarebill around shallow cover. Slow down to a Texas rig or wacky rig if fish are tight to beds or post-front.
Biggest Uncertainty: Whether fish are still spawning or sliding off. Water temp 65°F, rising, full moon – expect a mix. Verify by checking the backs of the warmest coves for beds or bedding activity.
Where to Start: The large cove at the north end – protected, dark bottom, scattered laydowns and lily pads. Fish the first 3–5 feet with a 3/8 oz white chatterbait. Work wind-blown banks first (light NW today, so the south shoreline inside the cove).
Backup Lake: If Milton is crowded or dead, run to Raystown Lake (65°F, 253 mi) – same temp, stronger smallmouth population, clearer water.
Multi-Day Plan:
- Today (Sun 5/31): Full moon, sun timing strong. Focus on shallow cover.
- Mon 6/1: Solunar rating 4, similar pattern. Shift to shaded docks and deeper wood if sun pressure increases.
- Tue 6/2: Rating drops to 3. Slow down, downsize to a Ned rig or dropshot on secondary points.
