Lake Menomin Fishing Report
The pike will be in the deeper dock ends; the bass will be tucked under the walkways.
Fish the northeast shoreline flats near the highway overpass with a white/chartreuse chatterbait from 7:00–9:00 AM, then switch to a topwater walking bait if the surface stays calm.
WHY IT WINS
- The July 13 satellite imagery shows a large protected flat in the northeast corner with shallow water and light bottom—perfect bank access and the warmest morning water.
- Water clarity is stained (historical turbidity); a high-vibration chatterbait creates the sonar footprint bass and pike need to track it.
- Northern pike and largemouth bass are both active at 67°F, and this area offers the cover combination of docks, weed edges, and shallow flats where both species ambush bait.
WHERE TO START – North end of the lake, along the eastern shoreline just south of the highway overpass. You’ll see a wide, shallow flat with lighter water color and scattered residential docks. Park along the road shoulder or use the public access near the bridge. Walk the bank and fan-cast parallel to the weed edge.
THROW THIS – 1/2 oz white/chartreuse chatterbait with a white swim trailer. Burn it fast along the weedline, then kill it and let it fall into the pockets. If you get follows but no commits, slow down to a steady roll. Backup bait: a bone-colored walking topwater (110 size) for the first hour of daylight.
BEST WINDOW – 7:00–9:00 AM. The minor solunar (7:47–9:17 AM) overlaps with low light and calm wind, extending the shallow bite. After 10 AM the sun gets high and the wind picks up, pushing fish tighter to the docks and shade.
NEXT MOVE – If the northeast flat is dead after 45 minutes, relocate to the residential shorelines on the southeast side. Fish the dock shadows with a 3/8 oz black/blue jig and a craw trailer pitched tight to the posts. The pike will be in the deeper dock ends; the bass will be tucked under the walkways.
