Otter Creek Reservoir is a man-made lake in Piute County, Utah with a surface area of 3,120 acres and a maximum depth of approximately 40 feet. The reservoir was constructed in the late 1800s by local Mormons who needed a source of irrigation water for farming in the area. Despite a lack of financial assistance, they began construction on the dam in 1897, with the help of local volunteers and homemade equipment. The dam was completed a year later, and was described by state engineers as one of the best and most secure earth reservoir dams in the country. Over the years, Otter Creek Reservoir has become well-known for its high-quality fishing. The reservoir is home to Rainbow, Cutthroat, and Brown Trout, as well as Smallmouth Bass and Wipers. Anglers can enjoy the sport of fishing in the clear waters of the reservoir and catch a variety of fish species. The south end of Otter Creek Reservoir is home to Otter Creek State Park, which opened to the public as a state park in 1965. The campground has over 50 sites, 15 of which have electric and water hookups, as well as a group-use pavilion perfect for gatherings and reunions.
